The attack of Appendicitis

James decided to have an appendicitis attack on Saturday. (It was actually, I'm certain, a result of outside influences independent of James' agency.) That big smile on his face was no where to be seen before an injection of morphine. Just look at the happy boy. He was a little loopy when we got to the hospital. Dad, Devon, and Will gave him a blessing which was very comforting, especially for my mom who is across the country and couldn't be there on such short notice. Haha. James told Devon his middle name was, "Eduardo." He was close. It's actually "Edward." Must have been the narcotic.

Whooooooooowhee Hawaii!!

In the words of Devon Glassman, "Whooooooooowhee!" We're going to Hawaii!! Yesterday morning Devon was talking to his dad, Mark, on the phone and told him that I was looking at plane tickets to Hawaii. The prices have dropped to about $500 each (not including taxes and fees) and Shira and Devin Dickson are going to let us stay with them! They live on Oahu but they are moving back to California in December after Devin's graduation. Mark told Devon that now is a good time to go because the price is decent and we won't have to pay for a hotel or a rental car (thanks to Devin and Shira)! I am indebted to Mark for his oh so wise counsel. Devon wisely took his counsel and bought the tickets! We will be there over Thanksgiving--less than three months away! I am sooooo excited! The Dicksons have lived there for over a year and are incredible tour guides. We haven't seen them since since January so we can't wait!

We have had a fun weekend. Friday night we shopped a little bit for me and I got some CUTE shoes and a couple shirts. On Saturday we got a lot done around the house and then watched the BYU football game. It was so exciting, but thankfully we came out on top. With 2 seconds left we blocked their extra point kick and won 28-27. I got a gift certificate to Carrabbas from work so we had dinner there with Teresa, Jon, and Elizabeth. After dinner, we did a little shopping for Devon. He got a couple pairs of jeans, a shirt, and a sweater. Of course nothing I picked out for him was on sale. I try so hard to shop the sales, but just seem to be drawn to full-price items. Don't know how that happens.

I took my camera and forgot to take pictures, so we had our own little photo shoot. It was a little challenging trying to get Devon to focus. He was either busy on his phone or making funny faces. I'm sure he will love that I'm posting these!

Lagoooooon!

My work planned a Lagoon Day trip on Labor Day, so James, Will, Dad, me, Devon, and Justin (our second-cousin and Will's roommate) all went. The picture is of us at Grandma's house after we got back. I hadn't been since I was probably six years old when my Grandma and Grandpa Draper took me, James, and Jenni. Lagoon was actually a lot of fun! They have quite a few decent "big kid" rides. Dad was a little chicken on some of them, so he didn't go on Wicked or the free fall ride, but he is tough in a lot of other ways! It was so nice to have Dad here. Thanks to him, our washing machine works now! Apparently you have to remove the shipping bolts so it doesn't shake like an earthquake and destroy the flooring! While Dad was here we went to a women's soccer game (4-1, yeah baby!), and the BYU football game (41-17, yeah baby!). Dad also helped Will get settled in his dorm room and hung out with Grandpa since Grandma has been sick. Speaking of Grandma, we're so glad that she is getting better and can't wait for her to be able to play cards with us again!
