Split: to tear or break apart

Last night we hiked up Rock Canyon to do some climbs at the Galaxy wall--Devon, me, Bryce, Cameron, and Dick. One of the climbs Devon led and then Cameron top-roped it. He came to a big slab which made for a good hold, so he grabbed and pulled down on it. The slab, probably the size of Devon's upper body, came lose tumbled down the wall. No one was in the way of the big slab, thankfully, but Devon was victim to some of the smaller rock debris that came down with it. Cameron got a little scraped up, but he was okay too. Devon had a pretty good split that required 5 staples to close. It was really cool to watch the procedure. Devon got a little light-headed after they were through, so he had to lie there for a few minutes. LOL.
Oh, and I saw a snake. It was so close to Bryce and me; probably two feet away. I was scared but no one else was, so I had to sort of ignore it until it slithered away.

I know it's pretty tough to see, but this is probably 40 minutes after it happened. It took us a while to clean the routes, pack up our gear, and hike down to the cars. Bryce cleaned the route that Devon and Cameron had climbed and knocked down all the loose rock to make it less dangerous.
Check out the chunk of hair--sick!
This was after the staples, but before Devon washed the blood out of his hair. You can't really see the staples and for some reason you can't click on the picture to make it bigger. Oh well.

Here's to the birthday girl and boy!

My Aunt Caroline posted awesome pictures of some of my family at the lakehouse the weekend of my mom's birthday. Riley's birthday was just three days later on June 3. Click here to see them! Mom is amazing and still looks amazing after 6 kids, and Riley is the sweetest coolest 8-year old ever! I stole a couple pics from her post--thanks Caroline!
Happy Birthday Mom and Riley! <3 Devon and Whit

Memorial Weekend in AZ

Devon and I took a couple days off work to head down to Gilbert, Arizona for a fun-filled weekend with some of our friends. We took their boat out to the lake, hung out by the pool, played Bocce Ball, went scorpion hunting, did a fair share of shopping (in Gilbert, Chandler, and H&M in Scottsdale), and ate tons of good food--thanks to Connie and Mike! It was fun, yet relaxing, and really just a fabulous way to spend time with great friends. We were also able to visit my cousin Teresa who is in PA school at AT Still, but I’m an airhead and didn’t even get a picture with her! Anyway, get ready for picture overload!
